We currently live in a Golden Age of cosmology. The last 20 years have seen an explosion in our understanding of the origin and evolution of the Universe, and in our understanding of the fundamental physics which governs the Universe, advances driven by newly available technology which has allowed us to probe the Universe in unprecedented ways. In Astronomy 123, we introduce the student to modern cosmology. We review the observations and what they have shown us about the Universe and then delve into the works and ideas spawned by the data to guide the student through the theoretical terrain to our current views on the structure and evolution of the Universe.
